I Ran My First Google Ad
I’ve wanted to run a Google Ad for years.
This week, I finally did it.
What surprised me most was that the ad itself wasn’t the hard part.
The hard part was everything around it.
In order to launch the campaign, I had to add a contact form to my website, create a thank-you page, connect Google Analytics, create a conversion event, and set up tracking so I could measure leads.
Every time I completed one step, another appeared.
At one point I remember thinking:
“I just wanted to run an ad.”
But looking back, I’m glad it worked out that way.
The process forced me to connect a lot of things I had built separately.
My website.
My portfolio.
My services.
My analytics.
For the first time, all the pieces were working together.
And honestly? That was the coolest part.
Launching the ad felt less like creating a campaign and more like building a system.
Someone sees an ad.
Someone visits my website.
Someone fills out a form.
Someone becomes a lead.
Simple.
But seeing that process come to life was incredibly satisfying.
Whether the campaign succeeds or fails, I learned a lot.
More importantly, I finally stopped wondering how it all worked.
The mystery is gone.
And that’s a pretty cool feeling.
